Black Screen displays during login for at least 4 minutes before launching shared desktop

We upgraded our Citrix on premise environment from 7.15 CU2 LTSR to 1912 CU2 LTSR a new environment. But we have a problem and we haven’t found a way around, users getting a ‘black screen’ and that takes about 4 to 5 minutes before desktop to appear. Do you have any tips for reducing this?

 

We have installed the following UPM

Citrix backend infrastructure: 1912.0.2000.2345 - Citrix_Virtual_Apps_and_Desktops_7_1912_2000

 

• Citrix Profile management 19.12.2000.3  - Date (UTC) 13-11-2020 16:24:42
• UpmVDAPluging_x64.msi version 19.12.2000.3, date (UTC) 13-11-2020 16:24:43

Thank you, We have already tried this and it did not resolve the issue

We use Windows Server 2016 - 1607 build 14393.4350 and is up-to-date until this month april 2021

What does director show is happening during the black screen process?

 

What size are the profiles?  If you have someone get a new profile does it address it?

Director shows a successfull logged on session during the black screen. Profile size is small. Same issue with new created profiles. no changes, no updates.

We use FSLogix profile. We have temporarily disabled this, but even without FSLogix profile, The black screen keeps coming

We also had this problem last year.

For us our antivirus program was causing the blackscreen (TrendMicro).

Just like Maik mentioned, TrendMicro was also causing our black screen issue. We resolved it by added the recommended antivirus exclusions on the session hosts.

I believe there is probably redundancy in some of these entries but these are the exact exclusions we have implemented and we haven't had the black screen issue since putting them in place.

The problem appears on desktop VDA (mcs random on Win2019)

We have the same problem. Windows server 2019 with /servervdi option. I did some tests and after installing the VDA (VDAWorkstationSetup) the black screen problem also occurs when connecting to RDP. The problem remains even if you disable or do not install the Citrix Profile Manager.
