Black Screen displays during login for at least 4 minutes before launching shared desktop

We upgraded our Citrix on premise environment from 7.15 CU2 LTSR to 1912 CU2 LTSR a new environment. But we have a problem and we haven’t found a way around, users getting a ‘black screen’ and that takes about 4 to 5 minutes before desktop to appear. Do you have any tips for reducing this?

 

We have installed the following UPM

Citrix backend infrastructure: 1912.0.2000.2345 - Citrix_Virtual_Apps_and_Desktops_7_1912_2000

 

  • Citrix Profile management 19.12.2000.3  - Date (UTC) 13-11-2020 16:24:42
  • UpmVDAPluging_x64.msi version 19.12.2000.3, date (UTC) 13-11-2020 16:24:43

Here is what we excluded:

Directories:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix

C:\Program Files\Citrix

C:\ProgramData\Citrix

 

Files:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\System32\CpSvc.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\System32\CtxSvcHost.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\System32\wfshell.exe

C:\Program Files\Citrix\Group Policy\Client-Side Extension\CitrixCseEngine.exe

C:\Windows\System32\csrss.exe

C:\Windows\System32\smss.exe

C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe

UserProfileManager.exe

 

I believe there is probably redundancy in some of these entries but these are the exact exclusions we have implemented and we haven't had the black screen issue since putting them in place.

did you resolve your issue?

We are using UPM with FSLOGIX (for Office 365) and redirected folder and we have black screen for 15-20secs before desktop.

 

The problem appears on desktop VDA (mcs random on Win2019)

We have the same problem. Windows server 2019 with /servervdi option. I did some tests and after installing the VDA (VDAWorkstationSetup) the black screen problem also occurs when connecting to RDP. The problem remains even if you disable or do not install the Citrix Profile Manager.
