Outlook 2019 O365 login page does not appear in Seamless mode

Question

Outlook 2019 ProPlus launches on Server 2019 Datacenter edition without issue - when connecting an O365 account the Microsoft authentication page never appears. Outlook simply sits at "activating account" for ages and nothing ever happens. It's like the authentication window opens but is hidden behind the open Outlook application. 

GoDaddy hosted O365 accounts also the O365 login window does not appear.

 

I am able to launch Outlook in a desktop mode and connect to any provider without issue, Office 365, Godaddy O365, etc., just not when Outlook is a published application. 


GSuite accounts show auth window no issue, the Google 0Auth window opens and 2FA works without issue. 

This was occurring on Outlook 2016 on Server 2016 as well, I upgraded to Outlook 2019 and Server 2019

 

 

Server 2019 Datacenter - Version 1809 - Build 17763.1282

Citrix VDA 1912.1000 LTSR - 19.12.0.1000.24525

Issue seems to have been resolved with Citrix VDA version 2106 - no longer seeing it happen on Server 2016 or 2019. 

*** EDIT *** - only seems resolved for administrator accounts. User accounts still do not let the popup function properly.

I can confirm downgrading to Office 2016 does work a lot better when publishing these apps on a Server 2019 XenApp environment.   Thanks Tom for the suggestion !    Curious how long this fix will take?   Love investing in Microsoft 365 subscriptions that can't even use right now on modern deployments!

Months later, and this issue still persists - Microsoft Support squarely places all blame on Citrix for this and will not assist, as you can configure mail just fine when the app is not in seamless mode. Citrix Support has been either silent, or blames Microsoft. 


Issue still occurs in Windows Server 2022 and Office 2021 with the latest Citrix 2203 LTSR as well. 

When you launch Outlook you'll get a brief flash and then you are instantly presented with the below error -
