Workspace won't connect after update. Ubuntu 20.04 Workspace 2004

Tobias Bodin

Question

Hello all,

The system administrators updated the server software last week and now I can't sign in via Workspace.

Was running Icaclient v13 and ubuntu 19.10 before they updated but that wont work anymore.

Updated to Ubuntu 20.04 and downloaded Workspace 2004.

After the 'normal' certification faults, I can add my account to the GUI software Workspace.

But when I try to connect to my session a short progress bar shows and fails with following message: "Connection to "111.222.333.444 - Citrix Desktop" has been lost."

The same fault shows when connecting via the web based citrix portal.

Did try the connection on a windows 10 computer and that required the latest 2002 version to connect, so I at least know that the server is running and my account is working.

I was trying to enable verbose logging but I didn't find the correct way to enable it so the information about the problem is limited.

Do you have any idea about the problem or how to enable the verbose logging?

Regards

Tobias

I have now tested the tarball installation and left it all in default.

But linking the cert folder.

I still get the fault 'Connection to 111.222.333.444 - Citrix Desktop' has been lost' fault.

I tried it via the GUI, chrome browser and manually opening the 'ica' file with 'wgica'.

Also tried removing the ~/ .ICAClient folder.

The log files under .ICAClient does not report any information...

It seems to be a configuration on the server side that breaks the connection? But how to I verify if it so?

I am using Ubuntu 20.04 and workspace 2004 as well. So far I have not had any issues, but I may have things configured different?

  • Install is from tarball. Installed as a regular user in $HOME/ICAClient
  • Had one error at launch that was fixed with installing 'sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0'
  • Linked to the system certificates instead of the ones brought with the client
    • 'mv ~/ICAClient/linuxx64/keystore/cacerts ~/ICAClient/linuxx64/keystore/cacerts.bak'
    • 'ln -s /etc/ssl/certs/ ~/ICAClient/linuxx64/keystore/cacerts'

Thank you for responding!

I will answer your questions and will try the tarball installation and see if it solves anything.

It may help other users in the future.

Will report back as soon as I have tried it.

I did install the 'Full' deb package.

Had no problems with dependencies when installing.

The installations from the deb package installs to:  /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/

This have I already done, otherwise I got the classic 'Go daddy' fault.

Instead of symlinking from /etc/ssl/certs/ ,symlink from /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/* ,and laumch from Chrome.Worked for me!

Also, I didn't do this step 'mv ~/ICAClient/linuxx64/keystore/cacerts ~/ICAClient/linuxx64/keystore/cacerts.bak'
