Citrix HDX HTML5 Video Redirection Service - stopped on all VDA's today

Hi

 

after nightly reboot the Citrix HDX HTML5 Video Redirection Service won't start.

"The Citrix HDX HTML5 Video Redirection Service service terminated unexpectedly"
 

environment

PVS 1909.1

Windows Server 2016

CVAD 1909.1

 

anyone else experiencing the same issue?

my first thought was that this could be related to a root certificate that's expired, but i have not found anything yet.

Same issue here, also 2012 R2 servers. No PVS or MCS. 7.15 VDA.

Could it have something to do with the fact that it is the 29th of february?

And that this only occurs every 4 years?

I can confirm that when you change the date to yesterday (28th of february) and you start the service, that it doesn't crash.

If you change the date back to today, it keeps working.

yes, the date was why i suspected that this was certificate related.

 

it's querying these keys on service startup, they are related to certificates, it could be as someone sugested that it's related to that it's the 29 in a leap year

 

HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Cryptography\OID\EncodingType 1\CryptDllEncodeObjectEx\1.2.840.113549.1.9.16.2.2

 

and HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\MY\Certificates\0B1392CAEA67DB1BE48F629A845FAD95A6D5D40D\Blob

the certificate it searches for is CheckPoint Root CA

looks like the cert is valid to 01.01.2040.

Very interesting thought. You may be on to something. I did find that if a server is not rebooted, you can start and stop the service without issue. However, once you reboot it won't start.

I also upgraded a VDA to 7.15 CU5 and it made no difference.

it also works if you set the date to 1.3 so i think this will be ok tomorrow.
