White/blank screen in Workspace after updating to workspace 19.10.1 from viewer/receiver 12.9.1 (because of update to Macos 10.15)

thomas christinck

Question

Everything was running on the Mac client with receiver 12.9.1 installed:

- starting in browser rda.company.com with user/password/token für vpn

- a new viewer window opens

- in the window windows is starting ...

After the Macos update to 10.15 Catalina, I needed to update from receiver to workspace.

- I installed 19.10

- meanwhile I updated to 19.10.1

- always same behavior:

-- a new viewer windows opens

-- window is complete white

-- Although I cannot see anything, I can click an work  (After reconnecting that session o another computer I see that I changed things while clicking around  on the white screen)

What can I do on the client?

What can I ask my server administrators? (they suggest wokring in the browser ... no, that is no alternative, that has too many problems)

Thanks

I was able to get past this by using the following in Terminal:

defaults write com.citrix.receiver.nomas PreferMetalRendering -bool NO

Unfortunately still unable to get the desktop to go full screen.

Thank you so much! I did not find the "PreferMetalRenderung with my search words ...

My Workspace/CitrixViewer 19.10.1 now runs like a charm.  All colors there.
I have no probs with maximizing the viewer window to fullscreen.

Was having same exact issue since I upgraded to Mac OS Catalina.  My IT Dept's response was to tell others not to upgrade to

Mac OS Catalina...  This resolved the issue and I can access our network again using Citrix.  Thanks!

I hva e not upgraded to Catalina yet but have the same problem. Might the solution described help as well for OS Mojave?

It should work for you.

The problem was the workspace app.

Catalina is indirect involved, because 32-Bit apps like the receiver are not working any more.

The workaround should work with the workspace on mojave as well as on catalina.

And in any case:

You can undo the change with an "YES" at the end of the command.

or: a complete uninstall of workspace and a fresh installation of workspace brings my machine back to the original state (white screen) and I had to enter the command with "NO" at the end.
