Online Plug-in 12.1.44.1 compatibility with Windows 10 And XenApp versions

Nik Frampton

Question

I have just joined a company with an existing infrastructure, which is in the process of being upgraded, and am in the process of identifying technology dependencies and roadmaps.

We have a legacy Citrix farm based on XenApp 6.0 and a new farm based on XenApp 7.15 cu3, and are in the process of migrating apps from legacy to new. Clients use Windows 10 1607 and have the Citrix online plug-in 12.1.44.1 installed.

In the next year or two we will possibly update Windows 10 and/or XenApp.

My concern is that the online plug-in is old and I cannot find any compatibility or end of support matrices for it. Is there anywhere that I can find information on this, are there upgrade versions of O/S or XenApp that we need to be aware of and plan a plug-in upgrade for?

Thanks in advance

Hi TwistNShout!

I have just completed a similar exercise.  Running XenApp 5.6 fully published desktop with users logging in via Citrix Access Gateway via an internet browser.  We had an internal and external CAG.  I found with the older system for users logging into the external CAG, they would have to use an old legacy receiver from 2017 to get it to work properly.  Especially with users using Apple and the later versions of their OS

In February this year we went live with XenApp 7.15 (and updated it to CU4 today!).  We have 4 netscallers (2 internal, 2 external), 2 delivery controllers.  Again this is a fully published desktop servicing 3 offices in 3 different countries.  A bit of trial and error, but the client you will need to use in the new environment will be the latest Citrix Workspace App.

For the legacy connections, go to https://www.citrix.com/downloads/citrix-receiver/ and expand the earlier versions section.  As I say, I found that the 2017 releases worked with newer operating systems.

Hope this helps?

Thanks for your help, looking through I can't seem to confirm whether our combination of versions is supported - just being pedantic and trying to avoid surprises if we have an issue and raise a case. ;)
