rpm.dll crash

Deraux LeDoux

Question

We have been fighting this issue all the way from 7.12 to now 7.15 LTRS.  We've had a couple of support cases open with no resolution in sight.  We have rpm.dll crashing and when this occurs no one can RDP or Xenapp into the server.  The only solution is to reboot.  The servers are fully patched and hotfixed to death https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX129229 per this.  Server 2008 R2 64x.  The issues occur even across different clusters, and types of hardware.  We see the problem mostly on busy servers but have even seen it occur with only a handful of users logged in.

We also see the following Error sometimes in the system event log.  EventID 7011

A timeout (120000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.

As well as this

Invalid ACR cookie. Terminating connection.

Timeout waiting for response message from client 0E00000001002A0000000000F10300C000000000020100000000000000E000800000000000000000

I'm having the same issue. I wanted to blame Microsoft updates but I've rolled back the updates I was blaming and the issue is still occurring. Oddly enough, this is only happening in one Delivery Group. I installed MS updates for March on 3/31/18 as well as started the process of excluding folders/files from user profiles. Being that it is only happening in one DG, I was convinced it had to be the profile exclusions since all servers in all DG's are patched at the same level. Opening a case with Citrix proved futile as they simply blamed the MS updates.

After rolling back my servers to the February update level, everything went great for about a week before the problem surfaced again.

Citrix for sure provided a private fix ...an rpm.dll.  It didn't fix 100% of the problem, but 99% of it - as we get so few over months of time I don't even consider it an issue where as prior we would see at least 1-2 per day.

I'm unsure which case was the 'fix' so i'll give you both and maybe citrix support can help.

Cases:

73645737

75104826

We are now on 7.16 for everything but our 2008 R2 VDAs - which are still on 7.15 with the custom rpm.dll

rpm.dll dated 11/10/2017 - 7.15.0.10009

HI I am wondering if my VDAS crashing is same issue.  VDAs are Server 2019 running 1912 LTSR CU6. FSlogix profiles

They are MCS provisioned, fully patched and kept up date.  Every day 1 of my 20 VDAs crash effecting 10-15pp.  Vdas are on different hosts crashing.  Looks to be error rpm - Invalid ACR cookie. Terminating connection. Event ID 9

Has been happening for 6 months, its holding up my project now I cant continue as moving to less VDAs so more people will be affected in each crash.

I have recently logged a ticket for investigation #81798184

Some help would be appreciated. Thanks
