Hi All,

I'm trying to install Xenserver 7.2 on a PowerEdge R720xd and hitting the error Failed to run efibootmgr

I have UEFI enabled in the BIOS and have previously had no issues with my documentation for 7.1. Can anyone help out? The raid has over 2TB of space.

Thanks

A clean install or upgrade? I don't know much about UEFI, but no space sounds like something needs cleared/wiped.

Hi Alan,

It's a clean install. The installer goes through the installation but then after it asks for the supplemental packs it fails. I'll try to clear the raid configuration and see if that helps.

A fancy Dell partition getting in the way possibly?

It's possible. I've done at least a dozen installs without any issues. I'm trying 7.1 that I know has worked in the past and will see how that goes. No biggie if I have to then upgrade it. It might be a corrupt ISO but so far it doesn't look like it.

No dice with 7.1 either. I'm going to try BIOS instead of UEFI for the install.

The installer still threw the error while I was in BIOS mode but I was able to get it installed. Not sure what is going on here but at least it is up and running.

Thanks

At the end of the installer you will probably see something an i/o or input/output error, just ignore it.
