Hi, i have some users complaining about Surface pro 4 stylus lagging when trying to adjust a size of a application window through a Windows 2008r2 published desktop.   It works fine when using published application and through rdp.  I tried to decreasing the appearance settings to 16 bit but that didn't make much of a difference.   I have the USB policies applied but that doesn't make a difference.  I am running Receiver 4.7 and tried down grading it to different version but that did not resolve the issue.  Anyone have any suggestions on what else to try?

Hi Jim, the problem is that Desktops do not inherit the graphic features of clients, as published applications do. Most Windows clients today set the Show windows contents while dragging setting to Off; when you launch a published app, this setting is inherited by the session and thus you get a better user experience when resizing / moving windows.

If you want to disable this setting for desktops also, you will need to set a GPO on the XenApp server. You can create a user GPO to add the following registry key: DragFullWindows. With this key you can disable Show Windows contents while dragging.

Thank you for responding.  but if that was the issue wouldn't it not work with RDP connections as well?

If it is only Surface Pro 4 Tablets then it may have something to do with the graphics, but there could be other issues.

There is not enough detail about the issue to be sure.

For example -

Is the user launching a published shared desktop (Server OS) then a published App (double Hop)?

Is it happening to all users, applications , surface tablets, rollup pack versions ( which BTW R05 is not supported anymore)

As a quick fix - You may want to see if this policy has any effect.

View window contents while dragging

This setting allows or prevents the display of window contents when dragging a window across the screen.

By default, viewing window contents is allowed.

When set to Allowed, the entire window appears to move when you drag it. When set to Prohibited, only the window outline appears to move until you drop it.

Its happening to all users.  User is launching a published shared desktop.   they don't have an issue when they launch it as a published application or RDP session.

Hi Jim, this is more evidence pointing to View Window Contents while Dragging when users connect in a desktop. Wondering if you could test the GPO setting. Certain Remote Desktop Clients already turn this off for performance reasons. For HDX based connections to published apps, this is turned off by default since we do not initialize the desktop.

Would it be possible if you could test the setting in your environment, and disable it on the server GPO? Thanks.
