PVS 7.13, PVS Console 7.13

XenDesktop controllers: 7.13

XenServer 7.1, all hotfixes and PVS Accelerator pack installed

PVS Accelerator site set up within XenServer for memory only

"PVS-Accelerator Enabled" is ticked for the host connection in PVS Console

I'm trying to create VMs using the XenDesktop Setup Wizard. This works if I don't tick the Enable PVS Accelerator box, but if ticked I get an "unexpected MAPI error occurred", details are "Failed to connect with the requested server. ( The device name 1 is invalid )"

It creates the PVS device collection and creates the Machine Catalog. It also creates the first VM, but does not add it to the device collection, Machine Catalog or AD.

The same error happens if I tick the "PVS-Accelerator Enabled" box on the properties of a target device.

What's device name 1 represent for in the environment?

Please check if pvsproxy runs as a process in Dom0 with the following command line:

ps -ef|grep pvsproxy

How to retrieve more detailed logging from pvsproxy
  • SSH to XenServer host
  • Add the following line to /usr/lib/systemd/system/pvsproxy.service in the [Service] section:
[Service]
Environment=G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all
  • Run command: systemctl daemon-reload
  • Run command: systemctl restart pvsproxy
  • Then look in /var/log/daemon.log

Regards

Jack Tu  :)

pvsproxy is running. Nothing interesting appears in daemon.log:

Apr 12 14:49:02 xendesktop01 pvsproxy[30467]: ** Message: Config file /etc/pvsproxy.conf not found; using defaults.
Apr 12 14:49:02 xendesktop01 pvsproxy[30467]: ** Message: Cache Manager started

Any more information about this?

I'm having the same issue with more-or-less the same setup. The only difference is: I use SR for caching, not memory.

Error is the same, log entries in daemon.log is the same as well.

In my case it was "Failed to connect with the requested server. ( The device name 2 is invalid )".

I noticed that 2 was also the devicenumber for the NIC in in template.

Removing the NIC and recreating one with device number 0 fixed the problem for me.

Menno´s solution fixed the problem for me as well. It looks like the presence of a NIC with ID0 is needed in the xenserver template. Thanks! XD-Setup Wiz doesn´t stall and PVSAcc is working like a charm now.

I am receiving the error An unexpected MAPI error occurred (the address specified is already in use by an existing PVS_server object)

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Tried with XenServer 7.1 and 7.2 with PVS 7.13/7.14, Streamed setup wizard and XenDesktop setup wizard?

Thanks in advance
