Receiver 4.7 disconnection and reconnection issues

aaron_o | Enthusiast | 43 | Members | 238 posts

I have just upgraded Receiver 4.6 on my Win 10 machine to the 4.7 instance found on the XenDesktop 7.13 iso in order to evaluate it.  Upgrade was painless despite a reboot being required but have found a few odd things happening with session connections that I am just starting troubleshooting.  Two main things are occurring that didn't before the upgrade:

1. Desktop connections are randomly disconnecting, usually when not being actively used. This is to a published Win2012R2 desktop in a XenDesktop 7.11 level farm via NetScaler Gateway.  Same desktop connection was stable prior to Receiver upgrade.

2. When resizing a desktop from full screen (across multiple monitors - all same resolution)  to windowed using the Desktop Toolbar button and then resizing the window manually to fit on one screen, randomly the resized desktop will display in the window for a fraction of a second and then just go black and stay that way.  Resizing the window again slightly on the same monitor will then display the remote desktop again.

Anybody else testing the new client yet and found anything like this?

Aaron

Ok so a day later after additional client reboot no more disconnections so perhaps that was coincidental.  Resize black screen is also reduced and could only repeat it on 1 of 10 attempts.

I ran into the same problem with Receiver 4.7. However I think for me it was related to updating to Netscaler Gateway 11.1 51.26.  I downgraded back to 11.0 69.12 and the issue disappeared immediately.  I also tried to install Receiver 4.6 but then the client would just randomly close on me when the connection did something it didn't like.

I also noticed in 11.1 51.26 I would get a spinning wheel where the SSL Ciphers are supposed to be in the Netscaler Gateway virtual server settings.

In your deployment would you be able to try  NetScaler Gateway (Feature Phase) 11.1 Build 52.13 Mar 1, 2017 and see if this helps?

Thanks

Kishore

I tried the 11.1 52.13 and still have the same issue.

Workaround was to remove the TLS1.2-ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384  SSL cipher from Netscaler Gateway as specified in this forum post:

http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/383981-user-sessions-random-disconnecting-using-receiver-146012010/

However I cannot use EDT reliably still.  I have to keep the HDX Adaptive Transport Policy turned off.

I'm assuming this won't be fixed until Citrix Synergy and Receiver 4.8 and XenApp/XenDesktop 7.14 and Netscaler 12 are unveiled then.

Are you saying that EDT is still not working for you in your setup even after you adjusted ciphers. If EDT is still not working in your setup, please open a support case and debug further from your setup.

Also I assume you are saying as per http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/383981-user-sessions-random-disconnecting-using-receiver-146012010/- you are not seeing re connection issues with this change. is that correct?

Thanks

Kishore

For my environment personally I think the issue is lack of SHA384 support in Netscaler.  Will wait until Netscaler 12 is out.  I can't download the Netscaler 12 beta.  I don't have permission to download it despite owning 2 Netscaler MPX's.
