Can you check to make sure the VM that you are using for test mode has a formatted local disk?   We have tested this in our development release being under test and we do not see this issue.  I am pretty sure that this area of the code has not changed since 7.11.

Hi,

Just noticed a behaviour that we were not expecting.

We have a vDisk, configured for 'Cache in device RAM with Overflow to HDD'. This vDisk, for versions that are in Production mode works. The WC disk is configured and the cache is used as expected. In the Virtual Disk application it also shows the cache mode being used correctly.

Our assumption (given we can't find any documentation), is that a vDisk in Test mode would behave exactly like Production.

However, a vDisk in Test mode uses 'Cache on Server' - which means that you don't get to 'test' your configuration without booting the vDisk into Production mode.

Has anyone else noticed this, or does anyone else know if this is meant to be the behaviour?

Thanks,

Craig

Thanks Carl, that was it.

For some reason we all (in the office) believed that the VM would get the disk formatted as part of the boot process.

VM formatted, and Test works as expected.

NO, Windows can not do that transition the local disk has to be formatted prior to the boot to use the local hard drive.  This is why the XenDesktop Setup wizard starts up the VM when it is created so that we can format the drives that were attached. The stream Vm setup wizard does not do this because it is assumed that since we are cloning the local drive should already be formatted.

Thanks for letting us know!
