Remote SSL Peer sent a handshake failure alert on Mac

Terri Parkinson

Question

Hi,

I have a user who is using a MacBook with Yosemite.  She downloaded Citrix Receiver 12 (the latest one) and when we try and log in we get the Remote SSL Peer sent a handshake failure alert.

We deleted the Citrix Receiver and downloaded the 11.9 version.

We get the same error.

Does anyone know how to fix this ?  I did search the forums but couldn't find this exact error.

Thanks

Hi, I came across the same problem for a week.

No IT people in my office can help but I have it done today!

The method is:

1. download the correct version of the Receiver (Mac or PC) as the latest version might not conform to your company's infrastructure.

2. after download, use Chrome.

3. at google search engine, type "citrix receiver google chrome", the first hit you will see is "Citrix Receiver - Chrome Online Apps Store".

4. click in and add citrix receiver as an App plugin

5. then Citrix Receiver will become one of the icon on the Google Apps page

6. click Citrix Receiver, you will be lead to the page for entering the URL

I have it done on my PC, my iMac and my MacBook Pro tonight!

All the best and Good Luck!

Hi,

I have the same issue. But my MacBook has macOS Sierra (Versión 10.12.3) with latest receiver version 12.5.0 (473188). Started happening around the time a captive portal was enabled on the location and corporate client was installed on the machine.

I reinstalled the receiver but this did not changed anything.

Like Terri, i havent found anything on the forums that can help me troubleshoot and solve the issue.

Thanks!

Hi Andres,

I don't know if our setup is different to yours as we go through a portal on the internet that then launches receiver when the credentials have been verified.

I found that I could get around this error for most users by going into Safari > Preferences > Security > Plug In Settings and setting Adobe to Always Allow; Citrix Online to Always Allow and Citrix Receiver to Always Allow.  Then closing and relaunching Safari.  I cannot get it to work via Firefox though.

I hope this helps.

I hope some one can help me?

I'm running the latest version of Receiver on 3 different Apple products and on all I get the same error.

"The remote SSL peer sent a handshake failure alert"

all machines run Sierra 10.12.6 with receiver version 12.6

I have tried to down grade but the receiver just crashes.

Does any body here have an idea what is causing this?

Greetings,

Floris Hirschfeld
