Session starts up but closes almost immediately

All,

 

We are trying to set up a POC with Citrix and have come stuck with an issue.

 

When trying to launch a desktop or App from the browser, you see the RDS logon screen welcoming the user but then almost immediately it closes and does not log you on.

 

I saw this in the event log on the RDS host :

The Desktop Window Manager has exited with code (0xd00002fe)

 

and then :

The Citrix Desktop Service detected that a user session has ended. Session ba7d36e2-2987-4000-86bc-aa2cdb2435b6 for user 'user' has ended; reason code ConnectionFailure.

 

If I connect to the RDS host using an RDP client the user connects fine. 

 

I have set the mac colour depth to 32 as other posts have suggested and still it is disconnecting.

 

We are running RDS one Server 2012 R2. It is licensed on a Per User CAL and there are no warnings about licensing for the server.

 

Anyone got any other suggestions ?

Kindly check if is there any GPo which is restricting the users to get the session.

What type of GPO would I look for ? There is nothing that is blocking the ones that should be applied. 

 

What should I look for in particular that could possibly get in the way of these ?

Just one question about this: I followed instructions on http://www.carlstalhood.com/virtual-delivery-agent-vda-7-8/#mfaphook and that works. However if I enable 8dot3 it doesn't work. This doesn't make sense.

Jason Pope - did this ever get resolved for you?  I've called Citrix support for help on similar stuff but it's never gotten resolved.

I had the same issue. 

 

I found that by using the short path for Program File (x86), it worked.

 

Example:

Instead of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\Universal Print Client\", I used "C:\Progra~2\Citrix\Universal Print Client\"

 

To find the short path. Run cmd.

 

C:\dir /x program*

 

<DIR>             PROGRA~1         Program Files

<DIR>             PROGRA~2         Program Files (x86)

I am having the same issue with seamless apps (v7.13 & latest WU). Works as expected when launching Desktop session.

Btw, the short path is not the problem. 

 

Any idea what is causing the problem?

I found using a batch file did the trick, the command to launch the program was in the batch file along with the command line arguments, the published app was set to run the batch file, fixed my issue immediately.
