They do need to re-register on each machine. I know users have a limited number of registrations but I don't recall if they have the ability to remove prior devices, which would be necessary for this to work in a pooled random configuration like ours. We ended up doing this via XA since we only have a few XA servers. Our Adobe reps told us they don't support our configuration (or any of their Cloud series of products in XA or XD) but since we are paying for the correct amount of licensing that they are okay with us doing it. But they make no claims as to whether it will continue to work in future updates.

I think if you're installing the old serial-key licensed version those instructions work. If you're talking about their subscription based, "Cloud" (Adobe account) licensing model, I don't think those instructions apply.

In our case it is a published Desktop via XA with the Adobe tools the users want installed inside.

I know this is an old thread but if someone is monitoring it I could use some assistance.

We need to install Adobe Acrobat DC Std on XA 7.15 - this will be a published App.  I don't see any straight forward instructions.  The best article that I have been able to locate has been - http://renshollanders.nl/2017/02/activating-adobe-acrobat-in-a-non-persistent-environment/

We will be using MCS to provision the VDA - again we are only using XA and not provisioning desktops.  Simply publishing the apps.  Can someone shed some light on best way to go about installation and activation.  We have a Volume License for Adobe Acrobat Standard DC.

I know for prior versions we simply put the Serial Number in the customization wizard and suppressed the User prompts for activation that used to come up on first launch.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Well my friend.. you are in luck!! :)  I have implemented Acrobat DC via serialized activation.  First things first; is the volume license you have the kind that doesn't require you to sign into the adobe login?

Here is a basic rundown on how I got this working in my VDA/Vdisks and XenApp 7.14/UPM.

1. Go to adobe's site and get the aptee/serialization tool and also the Acrobat DC  Customization Wizard utility

i believe this link will bring you there: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/licensing.html#imaged-os-deployments-serialized

2. Be sure you have the proper installer for acrobat dc based on your license type.

3. Next, create a customization msp file for acrobat dc; the main thing being in the "Personalization Options" to NOT put in the serial number and to CHECK the "Allow standalone Acrobat deployment with CCE serial" and also CHECK the "Suppress display of EULA" and then set any other setting you need for DC and save the MSP file.

4. Next step is to create prov.xml file that is created by using the adobe_prtk.exe utility.  You can do this on your workstation where you have the customization wizard installed.  The adobe_prtk.exe files are included with this.

An example of the command to run would be:

adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx --leid=V7{}AcrobatESR-12-Win-GM [--regsuppress=ss] [--eulasuppress] [--locales=ALL>]

It will create the prov.xml in the same folder as the adobe_prtk.exe is located.

5.  Now on your vdisk, put it in private mode and then install acrobat dc w/the msp file.  I also put the adobe_prtk.exe files and prov.xml i created earlier in a tools folder

eg  install commands; "C:\program files\install\Adobe Acrobat DC Standard\setup.exe" /sPB

6. After acrobat dc is installed in the vdisk, we will then need to run the activation commands (you do need to have internet access for it to run!!):

"C:\program files\install\Adobe Acrobat DC Standard\tools\adobe_prtk" --tool=VolumeSerialize --stream

7. Once this is ran, you will want to then open up Acrobat DC and let it sit a few minutes to verify no sign in window comes up.  Then close acrobat and you should have a properly serialized acrobat dc setup.

I had a thread over at the adobe forums; here's that link too :)

good luck!

I know this is an old thread, but for any one here looking to host Adobe Acrobat DC and Adobe Reader on Citrix MCS or PVS (or any other provisioning method) I wrote this blog: Hosting Adobe Acrobat DC on Citrix Non-persistent RDSH with FSLogix App Masking
