Citrix VDA event 1102

madhav wattamwar

Question

Hi All ,

We are seeing below logs for most of the VMs which are failing to establish connection with broker.

Log Name:      Application

Source:        Citrix Broker Service

Date:          08/09/2015 11:47:34

Event ID:      1102

Task Category: None

Level:         Warning

Keywords:

User:          NETWORK SERVICE

Computer:     XXXX

Description:

The Citrix Broker Service failed to broker a connection for user 'Domainname\user name ' to resource 'MY Desktop'. The virtual machine 'Machine FQDN ' rejected a request to prepare itself for a connection. This problem usually indicates that the virtual machine is engaged in an activity such as restarting, entering a suspended state, or processing a recent disconnection or logoff.

If this problem persists, please restart the virtual machine.

Where you able to resolve this issue? I am getting same log/error as you mentioned.

Thanks,

Okay, it seems that we actually broke Server desktops by ourselves..

We had applied Group policy "Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session" and set it to Disable.

Carls site mention it and https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX131245 says that it can help on XA6.5.

But for our experience the policy should be not configured or set to Enable.

Microsoft Technet says that: If an RD Session Host server is configured to restrict users to a single session and the user leaves the session in a disconnected state, the user will automatically reconnect to that session the next time the user connects to the RD Session Host server.

By default, an RD Session Host server is configured to restrict users to a single session.

Makes all sense to me, hope this helps someone.

We are having XD 7.17 and a XD 7.18 environment, we have lots of 1102 event for both persistent and non-persistent VDAs.

I can understand for persistent VDAs to list the VDA name for the event as they are static assigned. But how come for non-persistent VDAs event is logged with hostnames ? So are they disconnected sessions when user try to reconnect facing issues which effectively logs a Event 1102...

Please assist if anyone had the same issue and fix for it.

RDSH policy is set right.

Thanks

The more recent article, https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX223812, describes this a typically a communication issue between VDA and Delivery Controller. The second article, https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX218377, provides more detail into possible issues and some troubleshooting steps. Search "session preparation" in each article. registration will be delayed, if the VM is taking longer than expected to restart.
