rename a delivery controller server in XenApp 7.6

Want to rename the server. It acts as delivery controller and VDA

Wondering if anyone has done this . Been searching Citrix's doco and don't see anything on this.

Here are a couple places you would deflinitely need to change the name:

* ListOfDDCs registry key on the VDA

* StoreFront Console > Stores > Manage Delivery Controllers.

* If Licensing is installed on this server, in Studio, go to Configuration > Licensing and change the server name. You'd probably have to reallocate the licenses too.

* Where is Remote Desktop Licensing? If this server then you change the VDA to find RD Licensing at the new server name.

After changing the Host name of delivery controller Studio won't be able to connect to delivery controller.

I renamed the controller yesterday and as Rahul said, Citrix Studio can not connect to the delivery controller on localhost. "Could not connect to database". Is there a manual somewhere, explaining what you have to change for the delivery controller to be working again? Would be great, because renaming is sometimes nice in growing environments.

Just replying to this in case it will help someone who sees this in the future. With regard to Studio not being able to connect to the database, when you rename the delivery controller you need to go in to the SQL server where your Citrix database is being hosted and update the logins to both the server and the database to reflect the changed host name since the delivery controller logs in to the database using the computer account rather than a user account.

Considering that you have 2 DDCs named DDC1 & DDC2,

 

1. remove DDC2 using TSQL 
2. once removed check from the Studio and confirm . 
3. Rename the removed DDC to new name 
4. Add the new DDC computer account to SQL server->Security->Logins
5. add the renamed DDC to site. 
6. now remove the DDC1 
7. rename the DDC1 to new name 
8. Add the new DDC computer account to SQL server->Security->Logins
9. Now add the renamed DDC1 to site.
10. Over the studio that new controller name is reflecting.
