User Profile Management 4.1.2.2 - Data is Invalid

Gregor Blaj

Question

Hi,

Having a reoccurring issue with one user on UPM v4.1.2.2 where the user logs on but a local profile is created, no data from the UPM profile is copied over. To fix it the problem the UPM profile has to be re-created but this seems to reoccur once a week. I haven't seen this with any other users.

Below is the log extract, with the lines which seem valid highlighted. I tried looking up this error but haven't come across anything helpful. Any help appreciated.

Hi,

same problem for me, a workaorund is to delete pending folder, but the problem sometimes reoccurs.

I disabled active write back, why the hell UPM 5.2 is writing steadily in pending?? This causes, at next login, an incorrect profile loading....

I think the problem to fix is understanding why, during logoff, the pending folder is not emptied.

Any idea?

HI All,

Actually Pending area is related to Profile streaming but not active write back, deleting pending folder and disable "Profile streaming" maybe a workaround for this issue.

Could someone share more detailed log(turn on file system log)? or please contact Citrix Support team , then our engineers could know more details about this issue and go further investigation.

Well i have the same issue in 7.15 CU1. Engineer in Citrix Chat told me to delete the user profile, but the issue is reoccuring after some time. Citrix Chat also told me too, check if .bak guids are present when the user logs on and Delete .bak guids in registry profile list.
The Profile List is located here: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList#

Maybe this is helping you. Nevertheless I still have the issue.

Hi dmoeser24,

Thank you for your feedback.

From my side, after searching the file that was causing the problem I found that it was the "ItemChanges.txt" present in the pending folder of the UPM profile of the user. After a simple delete of the file the problem seams to be "temporary" resolved.

Despite It is a faster(better?) method to resolve the problem without a delete of the entire profile of the user, it is still not a fix... And I suppose that the same user will have this problem again (why always the same user?).

I don't know why this file is only created for a few users and what is the the utility of this file (beside the name) but there were some file in the pending folders that were processed when the file "ItemChanges.txt were deleted" so i think that it has no effect in the sync process when logoff /login..

I will continue the debugging but it's amazing that after years the same problem is still present...
