Hi,

I am trying to connect my VM to the internet but does not work. It states that it is the first time you use xenserver.
I assigned the VM the public ip address given me by the provider but does not work.

How can I do?

Thank you.

And that VM has a network/nic that is connected to a switch access port that is providing that public ip address network ?

If you can't ping the next hop router then you more than likely have a configuration error somewhere.

Good evening,

a physical interface is associated to my server. The physical interface is configured with this public ip 184.31.65.62, gateway 184.31.65.1 and netmask 255.255.255.0. This run correctly on web. It is associated to Network0-NIC0.
Then I created a VM with windows 10 as SO. My provider assigned to me an other public IP 184.31.65.200. I added an interface to the VM, selecting as network NETWORK0.
Then I assigned a static IP (ipv4) 184.31.65.200, netmask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 184.31.65.1. to the vm.

Anyway the VM doesn't run in web and if I try to ping the gateway it doesn't work.

where I'm wrong?

thanks for the attention

ICMP may be disabled/firewalled somewhere along the way, as well. What you can ping is going depend on the topology, routing and permissions.

Hi,

thanks for your reply.

Alan, From xen server (host) I ping gateway but from VM no.

Tobias, how I can understand if the problem is concerned with firewall or the configuration of xen? Firewall is administred by provider.

thanks for the attention.
