Export list of Pools and Guests in Xencenter 6.5

Hello,

Currently running XenCenter 6.5 and looking for a way to export a list of all my pools and affiliated guest servers within the pools into an excel spreadsheet.

 

I have used the export server list however it does not provide all the affiliated guest servers.

 

Any tips or methods for processing this?

Can you try to do the XenCenter > Pool >Export Resource Data and see if that's what you are trying to achieve ?

Export Resource Data allows you to generate a resource data report for your pool and export the report into a .xls or .csv file. This report provides detailed information about various resources in the pool such as, servers, networks, storage, virtual machines, VDIs, and GPUs. This feature enables administrators to track, plan, and assign resources based on various workloads such as CPU, storage, and Network.

That would be a custom powershell script. Haven't seen any do do this specifically, but if you're powershell savvy it shouldn't take long.

Thanks for the insight. When selecting the pool, the option to Export resource data is grayed out.

Is your pool newer than your version of XenCenter? 6.5.2.2477 is the latest release.

Yes, the CLI equivalent of the XenServer pool resource data export is "xe pool-dump-database file-name=(output-file-name)" and we incorporate this, in fact, as part of our NAU VMbackup utility https://github.com/NAUbackup/VmBackup.

Thanks for the update. I am running build 6.5.2.2477. I also checked with some colleagues and this feature is also grayed out for them. I will keep digging around as the feature is exactly what we are looking and can provide so much valued information.

Just to make sure you do have the pool selected before going to pool/export resource data, right? Other than licensing not sure why that would be.

This feature has been added since version 6.5, as per the xenserver feature matrix document.

What I think was that they released an update for this feature, because it existed before. I just want to remember in which update (from version 6.5) exactly this feature was added or if it was ssim since the first version.

Did anyone ever figure out why it was greyed out ?   I am running 7.2 (free) with XC 7.2 and is greyed out for me as well.

I did try the CLI command Tobias, but it appears to have exported in XML.

 

How can I get it to export in CSV ?
