After SF 3.0 upgrade - HTML5 still v1.4.0.5024, update to v1.7 not possible

Question

Dear all,

after successfully upgrading to StoreFront v3.0 I realized that my Store's HTML5 Receiver version is still shown as 1.4.0.5024. Therefore I assume it has not been upgraded to the latest v1.7 by the StoreFront installer. I thought it's included?

I then downloaded the HTML5 v1.7 installer and tried to update the existing version. I then received an error stating:

"No HTML5 Client has been deployed on this server to update."

Then I recalled something about putting the HTML5 Receiver into the Citrix Program Folder manually (back in the days), utilizing the HTML5 Engine Setup tool to configure the Receiver for Web's URL, and stuff like that. Well, I did that, and maybe I have to remove something of my existing HTML5 configuration in order to make it work again.

I searched my C:\ partition for anything HTML5 and found a couple of folders named "HTML5Client" under:

  • C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Citrix\StoreWeb
  • C:\Program Files\Citrix\Receiver StoreFront\Receiver Clients

Update:

After comparing a functional server with my own server I found some differences regarding the registry configuration. The functional server has a registry key referencing HTML5 InstallDir (HKLM\Software\Citrix\HTML5 Management) whereas my server is totally missing this registry key.

Now I'm confused... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Alex

Came across this thread recently.  My solution was to first select my Store > Manage Receiver for Web Sites > Configure > Deploy Citrix Receiver and change the deployment option away from Install Locally to Always use Receiver for HTML5 or Use Receiver for HTML5 if local Receiver is unavailable.

After that the HTML5 client install ran as expected on my StoreFront.
