Hi

I have been happily adding computer accounts to my desktop group in desktop studio until suddenly when I try and add another it says "Failed to create computer account due to an unknown error?

I searched forums and it says permissions but that makes no sense because up until an hour ago I was adding accounts. I try deleting one and that works it deletes from AD no problem.

I just cannot seem to add anymore.

If I manually create the account in AD then import it then it works however the desktop is unregistered.

any advice ?

thanks

Definitely sounds like a permission issue since you can do it manually. Are you running Desktop Studio as a Domain admin ?

Please check that you are running Desktop Studio as a Domain Admin or a user that has permission to create AD accounts in the selected Organisational Unit.

I'm running it as a domain admin, logged onto the server as domain admin and ran the studio.

For anybody that is interested I fixed it by deleting the existing catalogue and creating a new one. I then pooled the desktops and after about 30 minutes they populated in AD and in studio.

so the whole permissions in AD thing was leading me down the garden path..

no idea why this happened though, very odd.

Try with the below commands:

To reset the StartCount variable (except directly in the DB), use the foillowing PowerShell commands:
Get-AcctIdentityPool
New-AcctADAccount -IdentityPoolName "<insert the name from the get>" -Count 1 -StartCount 1
