Hi All,

I have installed citrix provisioning services 6.1 in my test environment. My test environment is as below:

All the below server and client are installed in VMware workstation 8 and all in VMnet4 network.

1) citrix-lic01-- has DC,DNS,DHCP,License server installed and configured
2) PVS01 -- has installed provisioning service
3) Windows 7 -- Master Disk Manager

I have created V-Disk with windows 7 configured now i am trying to stream that V-disk to other vm machine but i am not able to stream and receiving "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

I have configured standard disk and also selected boot from V-disk.

i don't know what i am missing so can you please help me with that please?

Thanks in Advance,

Pravin

Yes i have configured boot from PXE in Vm machine and also added that machine with Device configuration in Device collection and also configured the V-disk with Device configuration.

Infect it is booting from the PXE and come with windows 7 starting screen, it stays 2-5 minits and after that i reciives the error "boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

So it connects to the PVS server, attaches the vdisk, starts streaming down the Windows7 image and then generates that error? Have you been able to successfully stream the vdisk to the master target?

Yes it connects to PVS server and attaches the vdisk and starts streaming down the Windows7 image and then generates that error. but the same error occurs in master target as well.

Well, you need to get your master target working first. I dont know if that's possible on workstation but you need to start there. Does the vdisk look intact after imaging?

it has successfully imaging the Windows 7 to vdisk but not working with streaming VM. just connecting to the provisining server and comes up with windows 7 screen and then the error.

When booted of the Master OS disk, does the vdisk look like a valid OS disk? Is it browseable? Is the partition marked as active?

Hi Guys,

I am suspecting the problem is that i have taken snapshot of the windows 7.

So once taken the snapshot and imaging the windows 7 to vdisk that vdisk is not functioning properly.

Now i have created the new VM (Without snapshot) and imaging that VM to Vdisk and now streaming is working successfuly and target device are able to get the streamed VM.

Does snapshot cause this kind of issue?

Thanks for your help,

Pravin

Hi Padraig,

Now i have another problem, As previously i have created the VM with snapshot it was not working with provisioning services so i have created the new VM without snap shot and it was working fine till yesterday, Now it stuck with the previous error "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem" Status 0xc000000e

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

As you have previously mentioned, it is booting with the master target device.

So i don't know what is the problem and where to look.

anybody has any idea about that error?

Thanks
Pravin

Hey dude, if the template server has a dhcp lease before it shuts down you get this error.
Before shutting it down do an ipconfig /release then once shut down change the vdisk type and try again.
Cheers

Hi Guys,

I am also facing same issue with newly installed PVS 6.1 in my lab.

Getting following error "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"
while streaming the VHD.

Please let me know if you find and solution for this.
