Error in log when converting XENCONVERT_GetOsVersion_SOFTWARE

Hi All,

Can anyone assist with this error I am receiving on XenConvert 2.3.1?

When I perform a P2V to a XenServer or VHD file it converts the disk successfully then errors immediatley after with:

Failed to open registry key {XENCONVERT_GetOsVersion_SOFTWARE}\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion. The system cannot find the file specified. (0x00000002)

The conversion then as suggested, fails. The OS is Windows Server 2003 R2 x86.

Has anyone seen this and successfully rectified the issue?

Hi Craig,

Please follow below best practices for XenConvert.

1. Enable automount (http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX122143)
2. Disable autoplay (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715)
3. Do not use source drive for the target VHD. It should be either secondary drive or USB drive
4. Uninstall any unwanted application.
5. Perform disk defragmentation before conversion.
6. If feasible, disable any Network mapped drives.
7. Do conversion from physical server console. Do not use RDP.
8. Check if you have configured Default SR on XenServer Pool.
9. You can also use 2.1.1 version of XenConvert.
