I have installed PVS 5.6 SP1 as part of a XenDesktop Enterprise evaluation and have the vDisk mapped, etc. to do the imaging of the base machine to the vDisk. Everything looks great, I've run the optimization for provisioning services just fine, but when I click on "Finish" I get a box that pops up saying "The licenseMode field does not exist." I tried this with using both no Microsoft volume licensing, MAK and KMS licensing, trying to figure out if that's the licensing it is referring to, but it didn't make any difference.

Anybody have any ideas? Up against a deadline to get this proof of concept delivered. Thanks!

Try creating a vDisk manually in the PVS console and select the licensing to none. Then use the imaging wizard to create the image and select that existing vDisk.

When creating a VHD manually on the PVS console there is not an option to select "NONE" for the licensing. In the wizard window you are asked where to store the vDisk, What server is to be used for the vDisk, the File name, Description, Size in MBs, and VHD format. There is nothing for licensing... I am still receiving the same error.

Were you able to Resolve it?

I was able to resolve the issue. First I had to remove all citrix products from the VM that I was using as my gold image. Then install the hotfix http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX128160 on the gold image machine. Reboot the machine. Then when back in run the autorun.exe from the Provisioning Server CD and select to install the client software. At that point it will install the needed tools to begin creating the image. It will reboot your machine and then copy up the image to the PVS server. All is working well now.

Were you using Vmxnet3 nic interface, as if I try to apply the patch without it, it does not work.

Says vmxnet3 not found.

I ran into this exact error, and instead of using the vdisk I had manually created, I let the wizard create a new vdisk for me. That eliminated the error and I was able to continue. Hope this helps someone.
