When I try to install die Receiver for Windows on my Vista Notebook. I get this error:

There is a problem with the Windows Installer Package.
A program required for this install to complete could not
be run. Contact your support personnel or package
vendor.

Any Ideas?

The only time this was seen before it was a permissions problem & should have been cured before ship. How are you launching the install & escalating to admin?

Thanks
Simon

I am having the same problem with Windows 7 RC.

I just assumed the Receiver was not compatible.

Has anyone successfully installed it on Vista or Windows 7?

The Receiver client works fine here on both Vista & Win7. How are you launching the install and providing escalation?

Thanks
Simon

This sounds like you just downloaded the Receiver client from the download page and tried to install it. Is this correct?

This won't work. You need to connect to a Merchandising Server download page and it will download and auto configure the Receiver client.

Had the same problem with the installation and discovered that is you just start a (elevated) command prompt and then run the MSI it just works. As we do not have a Merchandising Server because it needs Xenserver and a lot of customers do not want to add another platform.
