Hello guys,
I'm using Xenserver 4.1 Standard.
I installed several WinXP, Win2008 srvrs (32 & 64) without problem.
Now Vista (both 32 & 64) is giving me headaches :
During the installation process (in the very beginning, after selecting the language), it asks to provide a device driver for the CD/DVD device... here is the exact message :
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note : If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
I've been using the template but that's not been of any help.
Does any one have any idea?
Thanks for all,
Regards
Frederic

is it similar or a different error code?
do you have all the latest updates of xenserver 5.5 installed? are you installing from cdrom/dvd in de drive of the host or through an cifs sr ?

I have the same problem with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.
It's the same for CIFS-ISO Storage and builting CD/DVD drive.
Windows Server 2008 x64 installs without a Problem.

I've seen the same error while installing Windows 7 Pro (N, en, x86, msdn). Switching to VL media non-"N" ("N" = european version without Media Player etc), it worked without further intervention.
Different threads in various forums also mention this error in relation with bad media (i.e. high-speed burned DVDs). You might try to use different media on different DVD reader to create the .iso file.

I have the same issue when I'm trying to install Windows 2008 R2 64bit on two different XenServers 5.5, one with all updates and the other one without updates installed..

This issue is not caused by XenServer.
The issue is caused by a faulty installation medium or .iso file. I had the same problem a few months ago. After I had downloaded a new .iso File from Microsoft Eopen Website, the problem was solved.
